Stems

Over the years, I have worked on many small and ultra-small budgeted projects. As I am not a big fan of repetition and especially not of one-minute tracks playing on a loop I began specializing in stretching the music without stretching the budget. Here is an example of how I do this and why it will benefit your project.

Here is one track done for the standard rate:

It has around 15 individual tracks – some you can hear more clearly than others, some are almost muted. When I send you all of them you can mix and match them into hours of original music. For example a dramatic score of just brass and drums:

Or a wistful sound of just the main string section:

Sad piano for background or even main event:

Any many more. If needed, the music can be composed in such a way that you can start any layer at any time (or for more complicated music once every second) and the piece will still work. So you can have your ambient background playing and when a fight starts instead of a jarring change you can add some of the layers based on the intensity of the fight or take away organically and purposefully.

For each section of your game, you can play these tracks randomly creating an unobtrusive background that always changes.
